Watch the videos, read the uses, and do the activities at the bottom of the page. Easy-peasy!
We use the past simple:
- To talk about completed actions in the past (We walked the dog two hours ago)
- To talk about past habits (He played basketball every day when he was young)
- When we list two or more activities in the past (Yesterday, I played a game, ate dinner, and went to bed at 10pm)
- When we use specific time references in the past. (I watched a movie last night)
- To talk about dead people. (Einstein was a very intelligent man)
- With ‘if’ sentences about imaginary situations in the present or future (If I had a boat I would sail the Mediterranean Sea)
